1. Can we customize our fishing and lodging package?
Crooked Creek works very hard to make this an Alaskan experience to remember. Crooked Creek offers a wide variety of fishing experiences.
2. Is there a deposit required?
A 50% deposit is required in advance, after May 1st all reservations require payment in full.
3. How should I dress?
Good rain gear is essential. Layering clothing can help with chilly mornings. Warm hats and gloves are also recommended.

5. How much daylight can I expect in the summer?
The sun does not always shine on the Kenai Peninsula in the summer, but the number of daylight hours continues to increase until the longest day of the year or solstice, on June 21st with 20+ hours of daylight. It never really gets totally dark during this time. During the spring, the peninsula gains over 5 minutes of daylight each day. As summer solstice approaches, the daylight gain slows considerably then as fall starts, daylight is lost each day. The shortest day of the year is December 20th where there is only 6 hours of daylight.
6. What kind of fishing equipment do I need to bring?
All fishing gear is furnished while on guided trips. There is also fishing gear and tackle available for purchase in our convenience store. Guest are welcome to bring their own tackle.
7. Is food provided on my trip?
Lunch's are provided on all guided fishing trips & can also be purchased in our C-Store to go.
8. How do I get to Kasilof, Alaska? How do I get around once I arrive?
The closest international airport is in Anchorage. From Anchorage there are 25minute commuter flights to Kenai. Rental cars are available at the Kenai airport. Crooked Creek is 22 miles south on the Sterling Highway. Fishermen often rent a car in Anchorage to enjoy the 162 mile drive from Anchorage to Kasilof. Crooked Creek is just south of Kasilof . At mile marker 111 on the Sterling Highway turn right onto North Cohoe Loop Rd. , proceed 1.6 miles , then turn right on Rilinda and go half a mile to the end of the road on the right.
9. What about sightseeing?
Crooked Creek is centrally located on the Kenai Peninsula which permits you to make easy day trips. We are 162 miles from Anchorage, 60 miles from Homer, and 108 miles from Seward. Approximately 14 miles from Soldonta and 20 miles from Kenai.
10. What are the chances of seeing wildlife?
The chances of seeing wildlife while staying at Crooked Creek and fishing with our charters is very good. Moose frequent the lodge and roam the entire peninsula. Bear and caribou and bald eagles can also be seen on the peninsula. Also humpbacks, orca and dolphins are sometimes spotted from the boats.
11. What about mosquitoes?
There are mosquitoes, but mainly in the brush and remote grassy areas. On the rivers and during halibut fishing you probably won’t encounter them.
12. How do I get my fishing license, do I even need one?
Alaska fishing licenses are required for all fishing including clamming. Fishing licenses or king stamps are not required for fishermen under 16 years of age, but are required to use harvest cards available for free at any Alaska Fish & Game vendor. Fishing licenses are available at Crooked Creek, any Alaska Fish & Game vendors, and online. If you are fishing for king salmon you will also need a king stamp. 13. Is catch and release fishing accepted?
For the most part this is entirely up to you. On occasion, however, when in the estimation of our professional guides, the fish is injured and will likely not survive, we strongly encourage the taking of the fish. Otherwise, the choice is yours.The Halibut limit for 2012 is still Two Fish any size.
14. Who cleans our fish, and where can we get it processed?
Crooked Creek guides clean and fillet your catch for you. We can also help you vacuum seal, freeze, and ship your catch.
15. How do I get my fish home?
Fish can be taken on most airlines or it can be shipped via FedEx or UPS. Please be aware that some airlines have weight and amount of luggage restrictions and may charge extra luggage fees.
